Dr Walter GibsoN
Director, Bear Valley Ventures Ltd
Walter led the Project Tiger team which developed the first full size Tiger Toilet prototype in 2012. He then led field testing in three countries in partnership with Water for People, Primove, and Oxfam. Since 2015 he has partnered with Primove to commercialise the Tiger Toilet in India, and co-founded TBF Environmental Solutions Pvt Ltd with them in 2018.
DR CLAIRE FURLONG
Senior Lecturer and Researcher in Sanitation, IHE Delft
Claire was the researcher on the proof of concept trials for the Tiger Toilet and designed the first full size Tiger Toilet prototype in 2012. She designed and managed the testing program in three countries in partnership with Water for People, Primove, and Oxfam and has since collaborated with Oxfam on designing and piloting TWT for protracted crisis and low-income areas (10,000 users globally). This includes the designing and trailing the first communal TWT. She developed a simple vermifilter to treat faecal sludge and is currently researching this area.
ANDY BASTABLE
Head of Water and Sanitation, Oxfam Global Humanitarian Team
Andy has over 30 years of practical emergency and development field experience in water and sanitation, he joined Oxfam in 1990 and became the Public Health Engineering team leader in 2002. He has focused on improving technologies and approaches in sanitation, bulk and household water treatment, and evaluations, as well as leading a number of innovation projects for emergency response and long term sustainability. Andy was the WASH focal point for the 2nd edition of Sphere in 2004 and is currently co-lead of the global cluster FSM technical working group. He led the Emergency Wash Sector Gap analysis in 2013 and currently in 2020.
Ajeet Oak
Co-founder and Executive Director, TBF Environmental Solutions Pvt Ltd
Ajeet has been a part of the inception of the tiger worm based toilets since 2012. In 2018 TBF Environmental Solutions Pvt Ltd was formed with an aim to scale up the worm based sanitation solutions. Through TBF, Ajeet has led the development and installation over 5000 Tiger Toilets and also large scale applications of worm based treatment systems such as sewage treatment plants and faecal sludge treatment plants (Tiger Bio Filters). TBF is looking to scale up the technology in India and other parts of the world.
Roger Sathre
Chief Scientist, Institute for Transformative Technologies
Roger has been working with worm-based sanitation for more than a decade. He led research efforts to inform scale-up and product improvement decisions for Tiger Toilets in India. He currently leads research and development of vermifiltration sanitation systems in Hawaii and Kenya.

Cheif Sanitation Engineer, Lixil Sato Project
Satoshi has over 30 years of experience developing household wastewater and solid waste treatment technologies and currently works on integrated solutions for emerging countries, from front end toilets to wastewater treatment systems.
Patrick Beckett
Vice President of R&D and Quality, Biofiltro, Worm-Powered Solution
Patrick is an environmental engineer and industrial ecology professional working at the intersection of water, agriculture, climate change, and the environment. He serves as Vice President of R&D and Quality at Biofiltro, the world’s largest private vermifiltration company, where he leads product development and provides technical support for vermifiltration system operations.
